The idea of yoga had been in the background of my mind for as long as I can remember, but it would be many years before I actually came to my mat. I have always been physically active through various sports and dance, and initially, yoga was simply another form of physical activity. My interest in maintaining a healthy lifestyle has evolved through the years and I have had many different jobs through my adult life. Currently, I am honored to guide yoga practitioners through their own practice and love this role of facilitator. I also believe in the importance of sustaining a consistent personal yoga practice which encompasses all aspects; body, mind and spirit. In class, one will find acceptance and encouragement through a light-hearted, yet grounding practice. I am certified through Yoga Alliance as an E-RYT 200/RYT 500, YACEP and also hold a certification to teach Yin yoga. I love that the practice of yoga is accessible to everyone and anyone, and that advancement is always possible with a consistent practice and patience. Yoga meets us where we are each and every day. Besides yoga, I am in process to become a certified meditation instructor and a certified essential oils coach. I consider myself to be a student of life and am ever grateful to spend time with my husband, Jean, and our blended family of 5 grown children, and our 5 energetic grandchildren. Recently, I completed my 500 hour certification in vinyasa yoga. I also am certified in teaching Yin yoga. I love that yoga can be accessible to everyone, and that advancement is always a possibility with consistent practice. It meets us where we are each and every day.

Besides yoga, I enjoy being a student of life. I am grateful to spend time with my husband, Jean and our blended family of 5 grown children, and our 5 energetic grandchildren.

Hip Openers

Cancelled
Hip Openers Description
Everything hips!!  Slow paced deep stretch class focusing on the major muscles affecting the pelvic girdle. Emphasis on sweet, slow breath and releasing deep holding patterns in order to free and support low back and hips.  Longer holds in standing poses develop muscular support and body awareness.  This class is great to alleviate back, hip and knee discomfort.  In each practice we are helping to realign the body in a natural way by lengthening and strengthening specific muscles that tend to bind the more we sit or experience repetitive movement.  Experience more ease.
Amanda
I discovered yoga in 2005 and began teaching in 2009. After receiving a BA of Fine Arts from the Art Institute of Colorado in 2000, I worked as an interior designer in Colorado, Vermont and Hawaii. Having a touch of wanderlust, I left my life in Maui to travel in hopes of seeing the world and learning another language. I wound up in Switzerland as a nanny learning to speak Italian, eating amazing Italian cuisine and yet I felt disconnected from community and self. After returning home to Colorado I realized that yoga helped me feel a deeper connection to nature, community and my true self. My passion urged me loudly to become a certified yoga instructor and share this experience. Eager and ready to begin teaching I found my path looking a bit clouded after a car accident that turned into 4 years of rehabilitation, severe chronic pain and ultimately surgery. The journey to recovery can be long but with Yoga, Pilates and Meditation I reclaimed my health, strength and sense of wholeness. I am grateful to have experienced such challenges so that I am better equipped to help others create wellness and ease within themselves; body, mind and spirit.

Yoga is for everyone. Yoga is for every body. Yoga is learning to love without judgment, find your path without expectation, and live your truth just as you are.

Certifications include: 2017/2018 IPYT Yoga Therapy (currently in progess), E-RYT 500, 200hr Hot Yoga & Hot Power Fusion, 200hr Vinyasa, 500hr Wisdom Flow, Level 1 Yoga Wall, Level 2 Reiki, AFAA GroupEx, Mat Pilates

Yoga found me about 8 years ago, and my first ever yoga class was HOT! Little did I know I would grow into loving heat, humidity and, even more, wanting to know why I was doing the postures in a specific sequence…………… Welcome to the world of yoga! I discovered parts of myself I didn’t know about, learned how to use my breath every day (imagine!) and found like-minded folks who were kind, committed and persistent in their practice. After hot teacher training and continuing my practice, I wanted to know about another style of yoga ~~ power vinyasa ~~ and completed that training as well. The road to learning can be a long one, but the road to sharing isn’t. I love to share yoga and watch my fellow people learn how to breathe into their feelings, gain strength and flexibility, laugh on their mat and take peace and grace out into the world. I have a regular day job 4 days a week. When I’m not working or practicing my yoga, I hike, climb 14’ers, cook and generally play outdoors. I love horses and am excited about making a marriage between yoga and horseback riding one day. I hope you will allow me to share time with you in your yoga

Physically, sweat expels toxins and re-energizes your body. Ciao Yogi belli!I’m the Yogini with the paprikas accent. Being born in Hungary, I had the privilege to grow up in the land of hugging ~ kissing ~ loud ~ laughing ~ gulyas eating ~ dancing ~ singing people. I spent my childhood days mostly outside, bare feet, helping & playing on grandma’s & grandpa’s land in spring & summer & ice skating on frozen lakes in winter. I was 11ish when we moved to Germany, where I was given the opportunity to dive into a new culture, languages & adventures. My passion for Yoga was ignited by an inspiring fitness instructor I used to train with as a teenager. To seal class, she would guide us into rejuvenating Yoga poses, which I didn’t know then, but that ancient form of awkward stretching felt yummie in my body. Loving to travel but not having seen enough of the world yet, I came to Colorado in 2000, where I snowboarded, went 4wheeling & climbed 14ers for the first time. This is where I started to breath deeply & to connect breath, movement & mind. It fulfills me to share my love for yoga in my Kids-, Family- & Adult Yoga classes, in- & outdoors; to challenge my physical body, mind & soul in always changing & fresh ways; to find my “edge” on my journey of infinite possibilities… I’m looking forward to guide You through energizing, heart-body-mind opening practices to make You smile & to leave Your mats feeling lighter on the inside & -out.

Beginner Yoga Description
This 60 minute beginner class is offered at a slower pace, while we focus on the basics of yoga, breath work & movement.  Learn alignment principles and how to support your practice using props & modifications.  Great for any level as the foundation of your practice is always a gentle guide & reminder to return to - mindfulness, awareness and support.
Kristal
I am Kristal and I have been practicing various styles of yoga for the past 20 years. As a former gymnast and dancer, yoga offered me the best way to connect my body and my spirit in ways that other forms of physical activity simply did not do and I could (and did) engage in practice wherever I found myself. As a KC-135 pilot in the Air Force, I was away from home more often than I was home, so yoga kept me grounded and at peace when my life was in constant chaos. In 2002, I suffered a catastrophic injury to my spine that ended my flying career and any chance at the normal means of staying healthy, so yoga became integral to my overall health as well as a means to rehabilitate my spine following attempted fusion at L5/S1. I discovered Yoga Studio Satya while searching for a yoga studio that offered what I needed for my spine and found my yoga home! In October 2017, I graduated from Yoga Studio Satya’s Yoga Teacher Training and I look forward to guiding others along their own personal yoga paths. If I am not on my mat, you can find me running wine tastings or teaching wine pairing classes (I am a Sommelier), cooking and baking for various clients, or homeschooling my son.
Somatic Movement
Kim
Cancelled
Somatic Movement Description
Somatics is not a different style of yoga but rather a therapeutic style of movement, a way of re-educating the way our brain senses and moves the muscles.  Soma means mind/body.  With every movement your awareness is divided between body sensation and breath.  This practice creates greater ease of movement, re-patterns body mapping, and is helping to release trauma held in the entire system of your being.
Kim
Kim M. Green, has been a dedicated bodyworker for over 20+ years. Kim has practiced and studied both professionally & independently with the internal/healing arts of Judo/Shiatsu, Somatic Trauma Release, Integrative Meridian Therapy, Structural Rehabilitation, Chinese/Japanese Medicine, Herbalism and Energetic Bodywork. She has decades of study in somatics, structure, cranial, lymphatics, Chapmans, fascia, TBI, disease, repetitive syndromes, somatic bodywork, trauma, PTSD, assault, rape and addiction. Through a diversity of trainings and learning from a traditional Judo Master her interest was peaked about eastern practices and yoga. Kim began her yoga practice in 1996 while researching ancient bodywork scripts from the orient at the same time she was learning hands-on from her teachers, thus resulting in her own two unique approaches of bodywork. Integrative Meridian Therapy and Somatic Trauma Release are a result of a lifetime of research, reading, training, facilitation and practice.

I am a CASA volunteer and love advocating for the children in my cases, a great opportunity to pay it forward. Finding Yoga has given me the opportunity to take a look at myself. In October 2017 I graduated from Yoga Teacher Training at Yoga Studio Satya, it was a life changing experience. I found yoga 5 years ago and my goal was to keep my physical body healthy, I found that there was so much more to yoga than the physical. Yoga opened me up to seeing who I really am and that it is okay to be me. I won't change so people will like me, I will be myself and the right people will love the real me. I'm so excited to be your guide through your practice here at Yoga Studio Satya.

I discovered yoga in 2006 while working as federal law enforcement on the overnight shift and attending graduate school for acupuncture during the day; I noticed that on days when I went to yoga I was in a much better mood later at work and felt more rested than the days I didn't. As I learned more about the body through Chinese Medicine I saw how my own health vastly improved with the combination of yoga and acupuncture, and I determined to learn more so I could in turn help my clients. In 2009 I was deployed to Camp Victory, Iraq to advise on border security issues, and while there I couldn't help but introduce everyone I met to yoga and acupuncture. My 200 hour certification is in Flow style (hatha and vinyasa) and my 500 hour cert is in therapeutic hatha, specific for injuries and conditions. Over the years my practice has evolved to focus more on healthy posture and alignment rather than just a workout, and I particularly love teaching beginners about how the body moves and how it can be less painful or achy. Small changes can make a huge difference!

My journey with Yoga began in 2007. I soon realized that it was so much more than asana. I became interested in the other limbs of yoga and the mind-body-spirit connection. Yoga has helped me through some difficult times. It keeps me grounded, centered and calmer. In 2017, I decided to take my practice to the next level and completed my 200 hr RYT. Yoga is my passion and I want to share my knowledge with others. I believe Yoga is something that can benefit everyone both on and off the mat.

Hi, I am Tracy Piparato. I am an experienced yoga teacher (E-RYT 200), Reiki Master practitioner, photographer, enthusiastic gardener, herbal apothecary (of sorts), and Civil Engineer. I began teaching yoga in 2014, and I currently lead a wide range of classes including: yin, restorative, gentle hatha, beginner's, children's, vinyasa and adaptive yoga. I am up-beat, encouraging and a bit silly at times. I truly believe that yoga should be accessible to all and I strive to ensure my students feel welcome in every class I teach. I have been a student of yoga for over 20 years, and each day I step on my mat or have the honor of guiding a yoga class, I realize there is always SO much more to learn. When I’m not on my mat, you’ll likely find me in the garden, enjoying nature, laughing wildly, or exploring the wonders of this world with my children.

I am a Colorado Native, who has been active in sports and the outdoors most of my life. I believe the peaceful mountains here are meant for an ascent achieved through hiking and/or running, and the Pikes Peak marathon is one of my all time favorite hike/runs. Years of running is what brought me to the physical aspect of Yoga. I realized that I needed a way to stretch after those long runs. Fortunately for me, my high school sweetheart/wife was already into a home Ashtanga practice. I thought I would give it a shot, but my practice was inconsistent at best. A couple of years later we came back to yoga after joining a fitness center. While this experience taught me a lot and definitely improved my practice, it left me questioning if there was more. After moving to a Yoga studio, I was encouraged to take teacher training and I thought that this was a good way to learn more about yoga. Not only would I end up teaching after getting my 200 RYT certification (that was never my intention), but I’m forever changed. I have much gratitude for my many teachers, who have guided me along this path, and hope to be able to inspire and guide others in this experience of yoga. Yoga is a lifelong practice and one never stops learning, so with that in mind I will soon be working toward a 300 hr certification to be completed by September of this 2016.

Over the years my practice has evolved to focus more on healthy posture and alignment rather than just a workout, and I particularly love teaching beginners about how the body moves and how it can be less painful or achy. Small changes can make a huge difference!

Yoga Wall Description
Based on BKS Iyengar's principals of alignment, the yoga wall is used as a prop to deepen asana by opening and creating spaces in the body using therapeutic techniques. You will learn how the body aligns in postures with added support and gain a deeper awareness of how the body should feel while staying safe and avoiding misalignment. Also great for restoring spine health.

I first stepped on the mat in 2002 and instantly was enamored with Yoga. I had no idea at that moment how much the practice of yoga would guide and change my life. For several years I practiced off and on when I could “fit it in.” But in 2005, after being hospitalized twice, I found myself broken both physically and emotionally. It was then yoga serendipitously came back into my life. Living in a military town with little to no yoga community, I found a small studio that had just opened and it was there that my yoga journey really began. Over the next couple of years yoga became my sanctuary. I gradually healed through community and practice, embracing the power of asana, meditation, and breath work. It was the practice of yoga that helped me learn to live and cope with a debilitating disease. I did teacher training to take my practice deeper, but along the way realized I wanted to share yoga with others, to empower them to heal, find comfort, and know the tools to really live and be well are within each of us. I’ve now been teaching yoga since 2010. I’m E-RYT 200 Hatha certified with additional training in Yin, Restorative, Therapeutics, Adaptive, Wall & Alignment based yoga. Although initially trained in vinyasa I like to incorporate many styles to meet the needs of my students. I moved to Colorado Springs in 2016 and have been blessed to continue my yoga journey in this beautiful state.

Vinyasa

Vinyasa Description
A steady dynamic flow of connected yoga asanas (postures) linked with breathwork in a continuous movement, similar to a dance. Like all styles of yoga, Vinyasa has both mental and physical benefits. Physically, sweat expels toxins and re-energizes your body. Mentally, the synchronized breathing relaxes your mind and helps to release any blockage of energy flow throughout your body.  Each class is different - come prepared to move, breathe, stretch and strengthen.

Yin/ Restore

Yin/ Restore Description
Yin/Retorative Yoga is unique in that you are asked to relax in the posture, soften the muscle and move inward to your true inner workings and wisdom. While yang-like (energized) yoga practices are more superficial, Yin offers a much deeper access to the body and mind (calming). It is not uncommon to see postures held for three to five minutes, while supported on blankets, pillows and blocks.
